COUNSELLING

Great for shorter term personal development and selfawareness. Together, we’ll identify patterns of your target areas for applying personalised, pro-active ways of changing behaviors and outcomes. Setting goals, using language and tone differently, role playing for confidence and practice, and learning somatic techniques for grounding and calming the nervous system.

During Counselling psycho- education is provided where you learn about your Attachment Style combined with learning about your Window of Tolerance, and how to best manage emotions that feel overstimulated, (anxiety) or under stimulated (depression)

Counselling with Elaine is a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate and client centered experience that will lift confidence and optimism in your being and support your innermost wish for authentic ease in your life.

Counselling is good for a variety of reasons such as managing anxiety, impulsivity, mood swings, living with grief and loss, feelings of depression or painful feelings, and improving the allimportant relationship - with yourself.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

What is Psychotherapy? Generally, it’s a longer-term approach whose intention is to discover the origins of our physical, emotional, or moral injuries, experienced with or without awareness, when very young or older. Neuroscience has proved through neuroimaging, that chronic or traumatic experiences and associated emotions can remain lodged (not processed in our reasoning) in our nervous systems. This is a normal and hardwired survival response in humans and mammals. In psychotherapy there is utmost understanding, compassion and respect for how we have adapted in threatening situations in the past and how is translates to our lives and relatioships in not so favorable ways.

Armed with current proven neuroscientific knowledge and skills-based techniques, we can confidently journey deeper into our psyche and discover why some feelings come over us that we have no words for or seemingly no control over, capture those moments of inexplicable fear that grip us, and uncover the silent forces that cause us to withdraw, not stand out and avoid. We can get to the bottom of those impulses, voices and beliefs that seem to take over and ‘drive our bus, and truly understand in the felt sense and in our developing wisdom, that they are the voices and narratives (often developed from very young) that by counter intuitive and complex design, protect our systems from ever experiencing unbearable emotions, yet still find a way to show themselves, vent, escape. This is what we want to heal.

Psychotherapy while firstly ensuring you have somatic skills onboard such as specific breathing and grounding practices, coupled with understanding Your Window of Tolerance, will prepare you for experiencing strong emotions without being swept up by them. This is termed Resilience. You will gain the ability to halt autonomic reactions, while you safely unburden and heal your nervous system. The energy bound up survival patterns will no longer fuel unwanted ways of being. Bound energy that shows up as tension, pain, depression, gut wrenching anxiety and rage is transformed into life energy, returned to your system. You will feel lighter without the burdens and more alive than ever.

YOGA & MEDITATION

Learning how to truly relax, is in of itself a therapeutic modality. Being able to centre and ground ourselves is a lost skill for the majority of us. Sleep or other external aids and substances do not afford us the benefits that authentic conscious relaxation endows.

Your choice of seated or laying down relaxation (with or without gentle postures), combined with a personalised script (Yoga Nidra) that you can return to at home. In some cases, clients experience resolution of tension and pain. It is a great form of pain relief, relying on the bodys’ own chemistry to alter our state of mind and produce innate pain- relieving chemistry.

How long does it take?

How long does it take?

To gain some authentic relief, learn some new skills and knowledge about your specific concern, a minimum of 3 weeks preferable 6 weeks. Of course you can choose the duration according to your resources and target a sliver of behaviour to start with, or just intuitively continue if you find you are 'onto' something more (there is always more lol). A commitment of a few months is ideal.
